THE CONFERENCE                           

It has been four years already since the first Research Congress was initiated by De La Salle University-Dasmariñas (DLSU-D) through the Office of the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Research in collaboration with the University Research Office as well as the Cavite Studies Center.  In 2019, as the De La Salle network worldwide observes the 300 years of Lasallian Education, DLSU-D, as part of its Annual Research Week, shall inaugurate the First International Research Conference themed Faith, Excellence and Service: Responses on the 21st  Century Global Research Challenges.

The conference will be held on May 2-4, 2019 at DLSU-D in the City of Dasmariñas, Cavite. The conference aims to provide a venue for presentation and discussion of research outputs on different fields of interests that respond to the global issues on education, environment, governance, business, health sciences, etc.  The conference shall also provide a venue for establishing academic linkages, exploring possibilities of research collaboration and networking among researchers and scholars.

The conference is sponsored by De La Salle University- Dasmariñas through the Office of the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Research in collaboration with the University Research Office, Cavite Studies Center, Cavite Historical Society and Cavite Provincial Tourism Office.

 

SCOPE OF SUB-THEMES

Individual paper presentation shall range from (but are not limited to) the following sub-themes:

Spirituality, Values and Ethics

Culture Arts and History

Academe, Education and Learning

Governance and Community Development

Science, Technology and Innovation

Environment and Health

Business, Tourism and Entrepreneurship

 

REGISTRATION

Participation is open to all teachers, scholars and researchers here and abroad who are interested in research. All persons planning to attend the conference must register.

Participants must submit the completed Pre-registration Form together with their payment either in cash, manager's cheque, telegraphic transfer, or money order, made payable to the DE LA SALLE UNIVERSITY-DASMARIÑAS, BANK OF THE PHILIPPINE ISLANDS (BPI), E. LETTER OF INVITATION

Participants who wish to receive an official letter of invitation from the organization may request for such from the Conference Secretariat. Such invitation, however, does not imply commitment on the part of the Steering Committee to provide any financial support.

 

CANCELLATION AND REFUND

The Secretariat must be notified in writing. A refund of the registration fee, less 20% administrative charge, will be made for cancellations received on or before April 26, 2019. No refund will be made for cancellations received after this date.

 

SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS

Abstracts should have a maximum of 250 words and must briefly mention the objective, methodology, results, significant new findings and conclusion(s). These should be typed single-spaced with font type Times New Roman and font size of 12 pts.

Please include no more than 5 key words and also a one-page bio-note with a recent photo. Abstracts and bio-notes must be electronically received by the Screening Committee on or before December 31, 2018.

 

GUIDELINES ON PAPER SUBMISSION AND PRESENTATION

  1. Papers invited on any of the topics for oral presentation must not have been previously published and must not be currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. Submitted papers will be reviewed for adherence to established rules, scientific content, and presentation by the Screening Committee.

 

  1. Papers will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
  • Main focus of research
  • Quality of research
  • Significance
  • Content of the paper
  • Adherence to the submission criteria

 

  1. The final paper should contain the following sections: Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgments (if any) and Literature Cited. The paper should not exceed 6,000 words.

 

  1. Final papers should be submitted electronically in MS Word to the Proceedings Committee via dlsudirc2019@dlsud.edu.phFax transmittal is not allowed. The full paper must be received on or before the set deadline.

 

  1. An email will also be sent upon acceptance or non-acceptance of the paper for presentation. An acknowledgment email will be sent to the presenting author upon receipt of the abstract and final paper.

 

  1. Contributed papers for the parallel sessions will be of 20 minutes duration. Five (5) minutes of questions and discussions will be allotted for each presenter. Presenters should use MS PowerPoint during the presentation. LCD projector/TV monitor will be made available for the presentations.

 

INSTRUCTIONS FOR PREPARATION OF FINAL PAPERS

  1. Recommended writing paper size : 8 ½ x 11 in.
  2. Recommended font : Times New Roman
  3. Margins:    
  • Top : 1.0 in.      
  • Right : 1.0 in. 
  • Bottom : 1.0 in.
  • Left : 1.5 in.  
  1. Title of Paper, Author(s)’ Name(s) and Address(es)
  • Title of Paper - Capitalize all letters. Registered names and trademarks are not permitted in titles. Italicize or underline scientific names of organisms. Use font size 14 pt., bold and center-aligned.
  • Author(s) - Type the PRESENTOR'S initials and surname in CAPITAL LETTERS. For all other authors, capitalize only the initialsand the first letter of surnames. Use font size 12 pt., bold and center-aligned.
  • Address(es) - Show current mailing address(es) and affiliation(s) of all authors. Use font size 10 pts. and center-aligned. 
  1. Abstract: Maximum of 250 words and must briefly mention the objective, methodology, results, significant new findings and conclusion(s). It should be typed single-spaced with font size of 12 pts. 
  2. Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusion and Literature Cited: Use font size 12 pts., bold for Heading, bold italic for Subheading, type Text single spaced and fully justified. For uniformity in the presentation of the citations, capitalize only the first letter of the family names and the initials of the given names of the author(s). Arrange authors alphabetically by their surnames. The whole paper should not exceed a total of 10 pages including tables and figures.

 

INSTRUCTIONS IN PREPARING ELECTRONIC PRESENTATIONS

          1. Recommended program : MS PowerPoint

          2. Recommended font : Arial and Tahoma

          3. Recommended number of slides: 20 - 25 (approximately one slide per minute)

          4. Important sections which should be included:

  • Title of Paper, Author(s)' Name(s) and Address(es)
  • Abstract
  • Introduction
  • Materials and Methods
  • Results and Discussion
  • Conclusion and Literature Cited
  • Acknowledgement (if any)

          5. Make headings and textual discussion concise but informative.

          6. Refrain from inserting too much heavy graphics and animated clip arts.

          7. Make the presentation eye-friendly, use good contrast color scheme.

De La Salle University- Dasmariñas (DLSU-D) is a member of De La Salle Philippines and located at Dasmariñas Bagong Bayan Area –B in Cavite.
