Dr. Lagat presents his lecture fort the first Dr. Antig Professorial Chair via MS Teams.

Some years after its establishment, the Dr. Carmelyn Cortez-Antig Professorial Chair in Science and Mathematics has produced its first lecture, which was delivered by Dr. Ronaldo Lagat on September 3, 1:00 pm via MS Teams.

Dr. Lagat, the first Antig Professorial Chair holder and a faculty from the Biological Sciences Department (BSD), presented his paper titled “Initial Terrestrial Vertebrate Assessment in Upland Cavite, Philippines”. The study is a University Research Office (URO)-funded research project that he co-authored with Dr. Rubie Causaren who is his colleague in BSD. The study is a baseline research that could serve as a source of rich information for the biodiversity conservation efforts in upland Cavite.

Before the lecture, Dr. Carmelyn Antig, the donor, thanked De La Salle University- Dasmariñas (DLSU-D) for various opportunities it has given to her as a professional and explained that the establishment of the professorial chair in her name is her expression of gratitude. DLSU-D, through its officials Vice Chancellor for Academics and Research Dr. Marco Saez, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Research Dr. Emmanuel Calairo and URO Director Dr. Johnny Ching also thanked and congratulated Dr. Antig for the donation and successful production of the lecture and Dr. Lagat for the conferment of professorial chair to him.

The Antig Professorial Chair, which was founded to boost the research productivity of the College of Science and Computer Studies, had its inaugural lecture delivered virtually due to the gathering restrictions brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.
