Through a virtual platform, De La Salle University- Dasmariñas launched a professorial chair in political Science dedicated to the late former Cavite Governor Juanito R. Remulla, Sr., December 4, 2020.

The professorial chair, which is formally titled as the Governor Juanito R. Remulla, Sr. Distinguished Professorial Chair in Political Science, was established to honor the memory of the former governor of Cavite. It was initiated by the Remulla family by donating an endowment fund to DLSU-D after it was offered to them by Dr. Myrna Ramos, Vice Chancellor for Mission, External Affairs and Advancement, in a series of meetings years before.

The professorial chair aims to advance studies in the areas of leadership, political history, and development. Vice Chancellor for Academics and Research Dr. Marco Saez also sees this as an opportunity for the university to contribute in and advocate good governance in the province.

To qualify and be a professorial chair holder, a faculty must have at least an Associate Professor status, three research studies related to his field of expertise and presented in forums for the last three years, and at least three publications in any professional journal in the last five years. The holder should finish his professorial chair research within one year and present the results in a public forum. Among the benefits that the professorial chair holder will enjoy are a salary topping from the earnings of the endowment fund and research funding from the University Research Office (URO).

Cavite 7th District Rep. Jesus Crispin Remulla, one of the sons of the former governor to whom the newly established professorial chair was named after, delivers the Remulla family's response to the establishment of the professorial chair in DLSU-D.

A symbol for the professorial chair was also unveiled. The symbol, which emphasizes the late governor’s role as a key to the transformation of Cavite, is a metal sculpture made by a Cavite-based artist Richard Buxani. After the unveiling, it was revealed that the first holder of the new distinguished professorial chair is Dr. Jan Phillip Mallari of the Social Sciences Department. Dr. Mallari will attempt to trace the transformation of Cavite from a rural to a highly industrialized province, and he hopes to be able to deliver a research that would satisfy the demands of the newly established professorial chair.

The professorial chair symbol, a metal sculpture presenting a tower and a key symbolizing Cavite's development and the Gov. Johnny Remulla, Sr.'s role in it, was unveiled during the launch of the professorial chair. It was created by Cavite-based artist Richard Buxani.

In his response, Cavite 7th District Rep. Jesus Crispin Remulla, commends the University for the Professorial Chair that will perpetuate their late father’s strong political will that transformed Cavite to what it is now.
